Complementary Minor Communication

Leadership opportunities and an innovative atmosphere are teaching a great communicator how to get the word out.

As editor-in-chief of The Archway, Bryant’s student-run newspaper, William Tondo ’19 had his finger on the pulse of the campus. Sometimes, however, even he was surprised by how much is going on.

“I didn’t realize how exciting it would be to be the newspaper editor here. There’s always something happening,” Tondo says. “I’ve had the chance to cover so many interesting things and meet so many great people who’ve been invited to campus."

Tondo discovered that Bryant’s close community allowed him to cultivate relationships with his professors and fellow students. “This is a community like no other,” he says. “If you’re having a bad day, there’s always someone to help cheer you up. People know you here.”

“The professors here are incredible,” he adds. “They’re such a great resource, and they’ve always been there to help me.” In particular, Tondo says, teachers like Lecturer Chris Ratcliffe and Associate Prof. Diya Das, his Global Foundations of Business instructor, "introduced me to so many new ideas and made me excited to see what else would be in my future at Bryant.”

Those personal connections and new ways of looking at things aided Tondo in developing his academic path. Talking with his professors and exploring different fields helped him decide on majors in Marketing and Finance and a minor in Communication.

Tondo believes that his experiences outside the classroom are helping him become a better marketing student. He practices what he’s learned as a Student Ambassador and as Vice President of Public Relations for Bryant’s Intra-Fraternity Council.

Ultimately, he hopes to become the CEO of his own business. But whatever he does he knows he’s prepared for success.

“Bryant offers you so many opportunities,” he says. “There’s so much to take in.”
