Being an entrepreneur means mixing creativity, ingenuity, and hard work to build something new. It involves creating something from nothing.
Sounds like a perfect fit for an experienced magician like John Logan '16. A Digital Content Associate for the New England Patriots as well as the official "team magician," Logan hosts the popular "Magic Moments" video series, where he performs magic tricks with the assistance of team members.
He's successful outside football as well. Logan is the founder of Duke Innovations, which produces promotional videos and scripted content, and John Duke Logan Entertainment, through which he infuses motivational speeches with stage magic for presentations at corporate events, private functions and fundraisers.
Logan believes that his Bryant education prepared him to make the most of the opportunities that come his way as an entrepreneur, and provided him with the means to channel his creativity into something real. He particularly values his experience with Bryant's IDEA program, a three-day design-thinking project that inspires innovation.
"I love how you study both business and the liberal arts at Bryant, because that's exactly what I'm doing now," Logan says. "Bryant has taught me so much about taking something you're passionate about and turning it into a career."
Logan learned about running his own business from mentors like Bryant Trustee Professor of Management Mike Roberto, D.B.A., and developed artistic and production skills with Communications Lecturer Thomas Zammarelli. The pair served as advisors for his Honors Program capstone project "The Magic Behind Success," in which he analyzed how the techniques used by entertainers can be applied to business scenarios.
"In a fast-changing world, innovation and creativity are key elements to success," he notes. "You have to know how to use both to your advantage to stand out from your competition."
