Meet the Bryant Campus Ministry team
The Interfaith Center opened in 2009 and offers weekly services for students, as well as spiritual exporation.
A Bryant education focuses on the whole student, including spiritual and personal growth. The Campus Ministry team, consisting of Catholic, Jewish, and Protestant chaplains, offers students, faculty, and staff spiritual education, support, and guidance, regardless of religious denomination or affiliation.
Meet the Campus Ministry Team
Campus Ministry's Catholic Chaplain is Reverend Joseph Pescatello. Father Joe received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Rhode Island and his Master of Divinity from St. John's Seminary in Brighton, Mass. He's been Bryant's full-time Catholic chaplain since 1999, and he's also a pastor at Our Lady of Good Help in Mapleville, R.I.
Father Joe is on campus often and is happy to help the members of the Bryant community in any way he can. "I'm present Mondays through Thursdays and for 8 p.m. Mass in the Interfaith Center, every Sunday," he said. "Please feel free to contact me at x6045 or by e-mail at revjp@bryant.edu if I can be of any assistance."
Reverend Philip Devens has served as Bryant's Protestant Chaplain since 1992. Rev Dev, as he is affectionately known around campus, received his bachelor's degree from Roanoke College in Salem, Va., a Master of Divinity from Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, Mass., and was ordained to Episcopal priesthood in 1985.
Rev Dev is a rector at All Saints Episcopal Church in Warwick, R.I. He performs in several choral groups, including the Bryant Singers, is a licensed disc jockey at WJMF, and enjoys fresh water fishing.
As the protestant chaplain, Rev Dev views the Bryant community as a family. "The spiritual 'wholeness' of the community is the tapestry that we weave," he said. "Father Joe, Navah Levine, and I work together to create an appreciation of diversity and foster a culture of lifelong learning."
Rev. Dev is on campus Mondays and Wednesdays and has office hours from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m and 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. A Protestant service, "Prayer & Praise," is offered on Sunday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in the Interfaith Center.
Navah Levine serves as the Jewish Chaplain to the Bryant community. Ms. Levine received her bachelor's degree in economics and political science from Yale University, and enjoyed a fourteen year career as an investment and financial consultant before pursuing rabbinical studies. She expects to receive ordination and a Master's in Jewish studies in June 2010 from Hebrew College in Newton, MA.
"A central Jewish principle is that 'All human beings are creared in the image of God.' In my work at Bryant, I desire to explore how that concept might foster respect for the diversity within our community and our world, and help each one of us to flourish into our best and truest selves."
Jewish services are held every Friday evening and is sponsored by Hillel. Bryant's Hillel meets bi-weekly and also offers services (Hanukkah festivities, Passover Seder, etc.) to help meet the needs of resident Jewish students.
